Message This website is not financially driven. While it does cost money to maintain hardware, software, and the plug to the internet, the origins of this website and how it came to be were not for the intention of grubbing hoards of cash by result.

The Site Faq is your link to what makes this place tick. It came about from a couple of people with an idea to make a website for these cars that caters in a useful way to the users while at the same time provided them the satisfactions they were looking for. i.e. they were IT geeks that were honing their geek skillz and were also passionate about the Z32.

Today, the luster has far more than faded. The skills have been perfected. This baby they created has crawled, walked, ran, rebelled,.... and so on....., and now, what you see today, and unfortunately for them, is their baby who grew up to be the kid who still lives at home. They love him - he holds a special place in their hearts, but they want him the hell out and dont have the nerve. They have been decent parents, no doubt. But no amount of protest or money will change how much effort they put into keeping this kid alive. It is simply a matter of managing and that comes with virtually no real reward or satisfaction.

If I am not mistaken, Greg Fields is the mastermind behind the forum layout. Not just the general and technical forum, but the creator of every aspect of every link you'll find here. He is the coder and very likely an integral part if not the keystone to the hardware as well.

I am with you on the frustrations associated with using this forum. There was once a time when it utterly infuriated me when the forum bombed out. I would have some awesome post or a kick-ass response and just when I'm beating my fingertips to a pulp and click the POST button, the forum would take a dump, I'd lose all my text, and my blood would boil. Those youthful days have passed some years ago but it has left me with an uncanny ability to sense which days the system will have a meltdown. I can feel it within the first paragraph of a reply or post.... when I'm in that fully engaged train of thought and pounding those thoughts into text as fast as I can and nothing else matters.... and that's when it happens.... I actually laugh nowadays when the forum takes a crap like this... it feels like nothing has changed here.... kindof like home.. :)

It would be different if you were to know Greg, talk with him, see how real he is. Your approach is clearly well intentioned, but unfortunately not well thought-out. Knee-jerk reactions rarely fare well and your request is perverse. Your suggestion is founded on the premise that the owners need more money to make this site better, which not only comes as a profound insult to them but also whores the rest of us out at the same time.

No member here is required or obligated to provide any financial support to this website. This website is here FOR the members. On the same token, it is NOT the responsibility of the owners of this website to fulfill any demands of its members. This website gives to you, at no charge what-so-ever, all of it's other members' posted information, when available and at whatever baud rate you want to discuss as a possiblity.

In reasonable mind you will not offer nor will the admin legally bound themselves to your financial "offering". What you are really doing here is specifying a set of requirements for financial compensation, a contract.... and all the while forgetting that this site is free - you cannot buy its offerings, you cannot financially manipulate its structure.

You'll have to get more creative to reach your goal. It will take time, not money, to achieve. It will take personality. It wont be as easy as you think,.... not to mention you've already pissed the lion off.

I dont have the answer you are looking for - no member here does. Perhaps instead of suggesting a solution you could start with asking what the problem is.... I've been here since 10/99 and I dont know the answer....
